Force of High Pressure/High Volume Coolant on a Machining surface

When a jet of water strikes a flat plate perpendicular to its surface, the force exerted by the water on the plate is:

Example: What is the force of 20 GPM @ 2000 PSI

PRESSURE ALONE IS MEANINGLESS

There is a great deal of discussion about pressure.  Pressure is meaningless without volume.  You will notice the formula for force increases one to one with mass flow rate (GPM) where pressure only increase the force by square root of pressure.   Volume has a direct one to one relationship with both force and horsepower.

Example:
If pressure is constant at 1000 PSI
10 GPM requires 6.85 horsepower which delivers 16.6 lbf
20 GPM requires 13.7 horsepower which delivers 33.3 lbf
But when pressure is doubled force IS NOT

Example:
If volume is constant at 10 GPM
1000 PSI delivers 16.6 lbf and requires 6.85 horsepower
2000 PSI delivers 23.5 lbf and requires 13.7 horsepower
Required horsepower increased 100% but the force only increased 40%
